Smart EV Charging in Parkades: A Data-Driven Approach for Building Managers

L2 chargers in a parkade don’t need to provide a full 32A output at all times because EVs remain parked for long periods, allowing for lower-power charging. A simulation showed that with smart charging management, an optimal ratio of one L2 charger per six EVs is enough to maintain adequate charge levels, meaning a 20-car parkade may only need the power of three chargers.
