We recently designed this 3.88kWdc system on a home garage in Bowness, Calgary . The garage experiences some shading from the neighbour’s tree and so we decided that we have to install a system that allows for each solar panel or module to be optimized independently. We designed the 3.88kW solar PV system with SolarEdge HD Wave Inverter. Each solar panel is connected to an optimizer, which is serially connected to the inverter. Each optimizer maximizes the output of each solar panel even when it is shaded. SolarEdge DC optimizers optimization is even more efficient than microinverters because they are more efficient in converting solar power at lower voltages.
The system is made up of 12 solar panels, each solar panel has a rating of 320W. Therefore the total DC capacity of the system is 3,880W or 3.88kW.
Each solar panel is connected to an optimizer which tracks the panel’s MPPT ensuring it is producing maximum amount of power.
The output of the optimizers is connected to an inverter which converts DC electricity to AC electricity.
The with SolarEdge HD Wave Inverter is expected to produce about than 3,900kWh per year offsetting more than half the home’s consumption. It is lighter and easier to install than its predecessors and is compliant with all Canadian installation standards.
A rodent guard was installed around the solar panels to protect the DC wiring from rodents and birds.
The system was eligible for rebate and the client reduced their installation cost by more than 25%.

We just recently had a solar PV installed at our home and we could not be more happy with it. After emailing and talking to several different companies we chose Neighbour Power. Many of the companies took a long time to get back to us while Moustafa, the owner of Neighbour Power, got back to me right away. He gave me an email quote then followed up with a site visit and analysis of our house. He also answered all my questions clearly. I know quite a bit about solar and I found I caught the other companies unable to answer specific questions or they had to backtrack and give me a different answer after something they had told me. The installation team were professional, courteous and a fun group. Moustafa was there at each occasion to oversee things and direct the work. Finally, the company handled all the paperwork and permits including the government rebate and the whole process from start to finish went very smoothly. Now we are proud owners of our own micro generation solar system!Terry, Calgary
